Over the summer, I read “The Great Gatsby” by F. Scott Fitzgerald. This novel is about a man who moves to New York City and ends up getting involved in so much more than what he planned for. Through out the book he is entwined in this mysterious neighbour of his known as “Gatsby.” every weekend Gatsby throughs these massive parties in his mansion where practically all of new york attends. All though the book is only 200 pages, it captivates you for every second of it. By the end- Well i wouldn't want to spoil anything for you.
My opinion on the book? I loved it. I find the twenties an amazing decade because there was a breakthrough in the attitude of the entire nation. women were now wearing dresses above knee length -which was scandalous at the time- and every one was in the mood to party. That's why they call it the roaring 20s. Being able to look through the eyes of someone who was living at that time was an exciting experience. The writing: flowing and enchanting. the plot: suspenseful and keeps you on the edge of your seat. The story was practically flawless. I loved the charming relationship between daisy and gatsby. Gatsby couldn't leave the past behind and daisy was fixated on the future. It was a very dynamic relationship.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes love stories or just really good american literature. If you're the kind of person who doesn't like to read all that much than I would definitely recommend this. It is a book that is absolutely worth your time and won’t take to long to read. I will be recommending this book to my friend and family in the future.
Overall, this book is amazing. 200 pages of pure gold. so head over to your local bookstore and get a copy of “the Great Gatsby”. It will do you well, “old sport.”
